This journey explores the cultural landscapes of the eastern Black Sea region, where mountain valleys, historic sites and local traditions come together.
Over five days, travellers discover the heritage of Trabzon, the dramatic valleys of the Kaçkar Mountains and the living culture of villages and highland communities. From monasteries carved into cliffs to tea gardens and alpine plateaus, the journey offers a balanced experience of history, nature and everyday life.
The experience is designed around slow exploration, shared meals and encounters with local culture.

Day 1 – Cultural Heritage of Trabzon
Guests meet at Trabzon Airport and begin the journey with a scenic drive along the Black Sea coast.
Our first visits include Hagia Sophia of Trabzon, an important monument reflecting both Byzantine and Ottoman influences, followed by the elegant Atatürk Pavilion.
After lunch, we travel to the dramatic Sümela Monastery, built into the cliffs of Altındere Valley. Walking along forest paths, we explore one of the most remarkable historic sites of the region.
In the evening we continue to the mountain region of Rize, where we enjoy dinner and overnight stay in Çamlıhemşin.

Day 2 – Highlands of Avusor and Huser
After breakfast we travel towards the highlands using mountain vehicles.
Our first stop is Avusor Plateau, where the alpine landscape and traditional highland houses create a peaceful atmosphere. Lunch is served in a local highland house.
Guests have free time to explore the plateau, walk through the landscape or simply enjoy the views.
Later we continue to Huser Plateau, famous for its spectacular “sea of clouds” and sunset views across the Kaçkar Mountains.
After sunset we return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Çamlıhemşin.
Day 3 – Castles, Villages and River Adventure
After breakfast we explore the scenic Çat Valley, beginning with a visit to the medieval Zil Castle, dramatically positioned above the valley.
Then we go back through the same road to visit Şenyuva Village (Çinçiva), one of the most picturesque villages of the region, where guests enjoy free time for lunch, coffee or small artisan shops.
In the afternoon we descend into Fırtına Valley for an optional rafting experience, offering a refreshing encounter with the region’s powerful rivers.
Dinner and overnight in Fındıklı.
Day 5 – Tea Culture and Village Life
After breakfast we travel to Çağlayan Valley, where village life continues at a slower rhythm.
A gentle walk along the historic Çağlayan Path reveals traditional Laz houses, gardens and tea landscapes.
We then visit the Tchala Tea tasting area, where guests discover the story of tea production in the region and enjoy a guided tea tasting experience.
After lunch and some free time, we transfer to Rize–Artvin Airport for departure.
Important Notes
- The road to Huser Plateau is narrow and at high altitude. Guests who are sensitive to altitude are advised to inform the guide in advance.
- Weather and road conditions in the mountains may require adjustments to the programme. The guide may revise the itinerary for safety reasons.
